Jordan Spieth Rivera will not play this weekend, but not because he missed the cut.

The three-time major champion was disqualified. Genesis Invitational Friday after his second round because he signed an incorrect scorecard.

Spieth bogeyed the par-3 fourth hole at the Southern California course, but it was written that he had par.

The 29-year-old shot a 2-over 73 that day — not the 72 the card said — to put him at 3-under for the tournament. Spieth shot a 66 in the first round, putting himself in good position.

Usually, paired with a golfer, a “marker” will keep score for that golfer.

The USGA and R&A define a marker as “the person responsible for entering the player’s score on the player’s scorecard and verifying that scorecard.” The rule also states that the marker “may” be a player, though it almost always is.

It is the golfer’s responsibility to ensure that scores are accurate. Spieth was paired with Patrick Cantley, who owns a five-shot lead at 13 under, and Tom Kim. Spieth and Cantley have competed in several Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups together as teammates for the United States.

Tiger Woods declines Janis invitation; The ambulance arrived at the golf course.

was the headline of the day. Tiger WoodsWithdrawal from the tournament due to illness. An ambulance arrived at Rivera, and there was speculation that it was there for Woods. But Woods never got into the ambulance.

Woods was given an IV for flu-like symptoms.

Spieth was 10 shots behind Cantley when he was disqualified, but was well inside the 1-over cut line.
